As an individual, you can conduct the following activities online.

Lodge your tax return online using e-tax

e-tax is free software which lets you prepare and lodge your individual tax return online. It also allows you to download your personal tax information directly into your return making it easier to meet your tax obligations and claim your entitlements. Information that can be downloaded into your return using e-tax includes:

  • Pay as you go (PAYG) payment summaries
  • government payments, including pensions and allowances
  • interest income from all your accounts, including interest from savings, term deposits and joint accounts
  • dividend income
  • Medicare information including total medical expenses

e-tax is also fast, with most refunds received in 14 days or less.

Note

You will need your notice of assessment to use e-tax if you have previously lodged a tax return.

Search for your lost superannuation online using SuperSeeker

SuperSeeker is a free tool that will look for your lost super in real time and instantly provide you with possible matches.

Note

You will need your tax file number (TFN) to use this tool.

Request a refund of your superannuation online (temporary residents)

If you are working in Australia as a temporary resident you may be eligible to claim your superannuation money if:

  • you visited on an eligible temporary resident visa
  • your visa has expired or been cancelled, and
  • you have permanently departed Australia.
