Clause 1: Short title

The short title of the Act is the Australian Federal Police Legislation Amendment Act 1999.

Clause 2: Commencement

The Act commences on a day to be fixed by Proclamation. However, if the Act (other than items 34, 47 and 48 of Schedule 2) does not commence within 6 months of Royal Assent then it commences on the first day after the end of 6 months.

If the Public Service Act 1999 has commenced before the day on which this section commences, then items 34, 47, and 48 of Schedule 2 to this Act do not commence. If the Public Service Act 1999 has not commenced before the day on which this section commences, then items 34, 47, and 48 of Schedule 2 commence on the day on which this section commences.

Clause 3: Schedule(s)

This clause provides that an Act which is specified in a Schedule is amended as set out in that Schedule.
