Explanatory Memorandum

Notes on clauses

Clause 1 - Short title

Provides for the Act to be cited as the Family Assistance Legislation Amendment (Child Care Financial Viability) Act 2011 .

Clause 2 - Commencement

The Bill will commence on the day after it receives the Royal Assent.

Clause 3 - Schedule(s)

Provides that each Act that is specified in a Schedule is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule and that any other item in a Schedule has effect according to its terms.

Abbreviations used in this explanatory memorandum

For ease of description, this explanatory memorandum uses the following abbreviations:

'Department' means the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations;

'Eligibility Determination' means the Child Care Benefit (Eligibility of Child Care Services for Approval and Continued Approval) Determination 2000 ;

'Family Assistance Administration Act' means the A New Tax System (Family Assistance) (Administration) Act 1999 ; and

'Secretary' means the Secretary of the Department.
