PART XI - AGENTS AND CUSTOMS BROKERS  

SECTION 183DA   CONSTITUTION OF COMMITTEE  

183DA(1)    
The Committee shall consist of the following members:


(a) the Chair;


(b) a member to represent customs brokers;


(c) a member to represent the Commonwealth.


183DA(2)    
The Chair shall be a person who:


(a) is or has been a Stipendiary, Police, Special or Resident Magistrate of a State or Territory; or


(b) in the opinion of the Comptroller-General of Customs, possesses special knowledge or skill in relation to matters that the Committee is to advise or report on.


183DA(3)    


A member referred to in paragraph (1)(a) or (b) shall be appointed by the Comptroller-General of Customs for a period not exceeding 2 years but is eligible for re-appointment.

183DA(4)    


The member referred to in paragraph (1)(b) shall be appointed on the nomination of an organization that, in the opinion of the Comptroller-General of Customs, represents customs brokers.

183DA(5)    


The member referred to in paragraph (1)(c) shall be the person for the time being holding, or performing the duties of, the office in the Department that the Comptroller-General of Customs specifies, in writing signed by him or her, to be the office for the purposes of this subsection.

183DA(6)    


The appointment of a member is not invalidated, and shall not be called in question, by reason of a deficiency or irregularity in, or in connection with, his or her nomination or appointment.
