SECTION 12ZP   POWER OF COMMISSIONER TO DEFER ASSESSMENT OR REDUCE ASSESSMENT TO NIL  

12ZP(1)    


The Commissioner may, on application in the approved form by a person, defer, for such period as the Commissioner considers appropriate, the making of an assessment in relation to the person under section 12ZM if the Commissioner considers that, were the assessment to be made, payment of the assessed amount would cause serious hardship to the person or considers that there are other special reasons that make it fair and reasonable to defer the making of the assessment.

12ZP(2)    


The Commissioner may, on application in the approved form by a person, amend an assessment made in relation to the person under section 12ZM so that no amount is payable under the assessment if the Commissioner considers that payment of the assessed amount has caused or would cause serious hardship to the person or considers that there are other special reasons that make it fair and reasonable to make the amendment.

12ZP(3)    
If an application referred to in subsection (1) or (2) is made, the Commissioner must as soon as practicable consider the matter to which the application relates and give to the applicant written notice of the Commissioner's decision on the application.


12ZP(4)    


In this section:

approved form
has the meaning given by section 388-50 in Schedule 1 to the Taxation Administration Act 1953 .
