Privacy notice – Maintain credit and debit cards

Privacy notice for how we maintain credit and debit card information.

Last updated 3 August 2020

When you enter and save your credit or debit card information, either directly, through your registered tax or BAS agent or your authorised contact, your information is being stored, used and shared with your consent, for the purposes of facilitating recurring payments to us.

Your credit and debit card information is ‘personal information’ within the meaning of section 6 of the Privacy Act 1988.

If you choose to store your personal information, it is collected, stored and received by our dedicated banking provider, the Reserve Bank of Australia through its secure payment gateway service and storage provider, Bambora Online Pty Ltd (ABN 86 095 635 680), in compliance with strict data security and privacy requirements.

The Reserve Bank of Australia and Bambora Online Pty Ltd are collectively known as the ‘secure payment facilitators’.

If you choose not to provide or share your personal information, we and the secure payment facilitators won't be able to maintain or recall your credit or debit card information to facilitate recurring payments.

We and the secure payment facilitators don't usually disclose your personal information to other persons or organisations, unless required or authorised by Australian law.

The secure payment facilitators will store your personal information in Australia and are unlikely to disclose the information to overseas recipients.

Our privacy policy contains important information about your privacy, including information about how you can access and seek correction of information we hold about you, how to make a complaint if you think we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles and how we will deal with any privacy complaints.
