Welcome to Taxation statistics 2016–17. Taxation statistics is an annual publication that presents an overview of the statistics relating to the different taxes we administer.
These statistics look at the tax returns and related schedules for the 2016–17 income year for individuals, companies, superannuation (super) funds, partnerships and trusts.
We also include other information provided to us, such as data from goods and services tax (GST) and activity statements, relating to the 2017–18 financial year.

Improvements this year include:
- two new tables showing the number of individuals and couples with private health insurance, by income tier and age
- two new detailed tables showing data for individuals with an interest in a rental property, as well as historical excise rates, both back to the year 2000
