Updated web guidance to help you lodge your return

We're continuing to help NFPs lodge the self-review return with an advertising campaign and updated web guidance.

Published 5 November 2024

We're running a digital and social media advertising in November and December, reminding not-for-profits (NFP) they have a new reporting requirement and encouraging them to lodge their NFP self-review return.

In this month's edition of Not-for-profit news, you can see one of the advertisements from the campaign. If you're reading this article in the NFP Newsroom on our website and don't receive our monthly emails, take a moment and subscribeExternal Link to our newsletter.

To support our campaign, we’ve updated our online content to make it easier for you to find the information you need. Our improved dedicated web page brings together the NFP self-review guide and our how and when to lodge content. We've also reordered the content to help guide you through the lodgment process and what comes next.

Take a look at our simplified and consolidated web guidance.

How to lodge

The NFP self-review return can be lodged using Online services for business or a registered tax agent can lodge it on your behalf.

You can also lodge using our Self-help phone service on 13 72 26.

If your NFP is ready with the required information, the return typically takes around 10 minutes to lodge. To assist with lodgment:

  • review your NFP's governing documents and prepare your answers to the return's questions before proceeding to lodge
  • have your NFP's ABN and reference number, from any letter we’ve posted to your NFP, if using our Self-help phone service
  • ensure your NFP's ABN details are up-to-date including the address, associates and contacts
  • set up myGovID (soon to be myID) and RAM if lodging through using Online services for business.
