There are several ways you can correct, amend, or cancel parts of or a whole report that you have previously lodged. This can be done by using Message Type Indicators and Document Type Indicators in the XML schema. You must use the correct indicators when submitting the correction, amendment or cancellation request or it may be rejected.
The following message types are available:
- New – used for reporting new data that hasn't been reported before.
- Amend – used if you have already reported and you need to make changes to information within that existing report (for example, adding, deleting or correcting information).
- Cancellation – used to withdraw or cancel a previously lodged report.
- Nil – used when there is nothing to report for this reporting period.
Only certain combinations of Message Type and Document Type are compatible under SERR. The tables contained in the SERR Business Implementation GuideExternal Link outline acceptable combinations of Message and Document types. Combinations that have not been included in the business implementation guide that are lodged will not be processed and will require a resubmission.
For further information on message structures and the requirements for lodging a correction, amendment or cancellation request, refer to Section 5 (Correcting a lodged report) of the SERR Business Implementation GuideExternal Link.
