There are many provisions under the tax laws that may require you to determine the value of something. The provisions are not uniform and often involve different valuation approaches.
The reliability of valuations is very much dependent on the quality of information and level of detail provided to valuers.
We have developed a standard instruction form to assist you when you request services from a valuation consultant, and to promote more targeted valuations that align with the tax law approaches and requirements.
The form contains instructive text outlining the information that valuers may require from you, and optional text (italicised and underlined) that you can include depending on the services you are requesting.
Next steps:
- You can download this form Request for quote – Formal instructions (DOCX, 37KB).
- If you have any feedback on the content or operation of the form you can provide this to ValuationReferrals@ato.gov.au as we will be reviewing the form on a regular basis.
