Last updated 31 May 2020

Complete myTax by following these instructions. They provide tailored guidance based on your residency status (Australian, Timor-Leste or another country).

To personalise your return to show JPDA income, at Personalise return select:

  • You received salary, wages or other income on an income statement/payment summary, Australian Government payments, or First home super saver (FHSS) scheme payment
  • Foreign employment income (on an income statement/payment summary).

To show your JPDA income, at Prepare return select 'Add/Edit' at the 'Income statements and payment summaries' banner.

At the Foreign employment income banner:

  1. Enter the Occupation where you earned most income.
  2. For each JPDA income statement or payment summary that
    • has pre-filled, check the pre-filled details and add any information not pre-filled
    • has not pre-filled, select Add and enter JPDA income into the corresponding fields
      • Payer's name
      • Payer's ABN (if unknown, leave blank)
      • 'Joint Petroleum Development Area (JPDA)' as Foreign employment income type
      • Residency status
      • Any other details from your income statement or PAYG payment summary – foreign employment

Note: You may need to adjust some amounts from your income statement or PAYG payment summary – foreign employment in myTax. To see if this applies to you, go to step 5.
