THIS MEMORANDUM TAKES ACCOUNT OF AMENDMENTS MADE BY THE SENATE TO THE BILL AS INTRODUCED AND SUPERSEDES THE EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM TABLED IN THE SENATE

NOTES ON CLAUSES

Clause 1 - Short title

74. This clause provides for the Bill to be cited as the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1) 2014.

Clause 2 -- Commencement

75. This clause provides for the commencement of each provision of the Bill, as set out in the table.

76. Clauses 1-2 will commence the day after Royal Assent. Schedule 1 commences the 28th day after Royal Assent. Schedule 2 commences the day after Royal Assent, in recognition of the urgent nature of the amendments to the Intelligence Services Act 2001 contained in that Schedule.

Clause 3 - Schedules

77. Each Act specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended as is set out in the applicable items in the Schedule. Any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.
