Statement of Compatibility with Human Rights

Prepared in accordance with Part 3 of the Human Rights (Parliamentary Scrutiny) Act 2011

The Treasury Laws Amendment (Working Holiday Maker Employer Register) Bill 2017

1.19 This Bill is compatible with the human rights and freedoms recognised or declared in the international instruments listed in section 3 of the Human Rights (Parliamentary Scrutiny) Act 2011 .

Overview

1.20 This Bill gives effect to the Government's commitments that:

the information collected by the (Commissioner) concerning the employer registration information of employers of working holiday makers is not able to be made publicly available; and
the Commissioner is only able to disclose protected information to the Fair Work Ombudsman for an entity that is actually or is reasonably suspected of non-compliance with a taxation law.

Human rights implications

1.21 This Bill does not engage any of the applicable rights or freedoms.

Conclusion

1.22 This Bill is compatible with human rights as it does not raise any human rights issues.
