SECTION 22-65 CPI INDEXATION FACTOR  
22-65(1)
The CPI indexation factor for 1 April in a particular year is the number worked out by dividing the *CPI index number for the December quarter immediately preceding that year by the CPI index number for the December quarter preceding the first-mentioned December quarter.

22-65(2)
The CPI index number for a quarter is the All Groups Consumer Price Index number, being the weighted average of the 8 capital cities, published by the Australian Statistician in respect of that quarter.

22-65(3)
Work out a *CPI indexation factor to 3 decimal places (rounding up if the fourth decimal place is 5 or more).

22-65(4)
In working out the *CPI indexation factor for 1 April in a particular year:
(a) use only the *CPI index numbers published in terms of the most recently published reference base for the Consumer Price Index; and
(b) disregard CPI index numbers published in substitution for previously published CPI index numbers (except where the substituted numbers are published to take account of changes in the reference base).
