PART 10 - GENERAL PROVISIONS  

SECTION 106   GIVING FALSE OR MISLEADING INFORMATION  

106(1)    
A person contravenes this subsection if:


(a) a person gives information or a document:


(i) to a VET officer; or

(ii) otherwise under, or for the purpose of, this Act; and


(b) the information or document:


(i) is false or misleading; or

(ii) omits any matter or thing without which the information or document is misleading.

106(2)    
Subsection (1) does not apply if the information or document is not false or misleading in a material particular.

106(3)    
A person is liable to a civil penalty if the person contravenes subsection (1).

Note:

A person may commit an offence if the person provides false or misleading information or documents: see sections 137.1 and 137.2 of the Criminal Code .

Civil penalty: 240 penalty units.
