If a person (the purchaser ) who takes an item of property on hire under a hire-purchase agreement does or fails to do anything that results in the person from whom the purchaser took the item on hire under the agreement obtaining possession of the item:

(a) the purchaser is taken to have disposed of the item; and

(b) the disposal is taken to have happened when the other person obtained possession from the purchaser.
