Second Reading Speech

I move that the Bill now be read a second time.

This bill will amend the Taxation Administration Act 1953 to bring the wine equalisation tax and the luxury car tax within the administrative powers exercised by the Commissioner of Taxation in respect of taxation laws.

Full details of the measures in the bill are contained in the explanatory memorandum circulated to honour-able members.

I present the explanatory memorandum and I commend the bill to the House.
