Timor-Leste (Timor Sea Maritime Boundaries Treaty)  

TREATY BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF TIMOR-LESTE ESTABLISHING THEIR MARITIME BOUNDARIES IN THE TIMOR SEA  

ARTICLE 7   Greater Sunrise Special Regime  

1    
The Parties hereby establish the Greater Sunrise Special Regime as set out in Annex B of this Treaty for the Special Regime Area.

2    
Within the Special Regime Area, the Parties shall jointly exercise their rights as coastal States pursuant to Article 77 of the Convention.

3    
The governance and exercise of jurisdiction within the Special Regime Area is as set out in the Greater Sunrise Special Regime.

4    
Except as provided in this Treaty, the rights and obligations of the Parties in the Special Regime Area are governed by the Convention.

5    
When the Greater Sunrise Special Regime ceases to be in force, the Parties shall individually exercise their rights as coastal States pursuant to Article 77 of the Convention on the basis of the continental shelf boundary as delimited by this Treaty.

6    
Except as provided in Article 3 of this Treaty, the entry into force of an agreement between Timor-Leste and Indonesia delimiting the continental shelf boundary between those two States shall have no effect on the Greater Sunrise Special Regime.
